The Subways have already launched themselves on the music industry with good merit. Their single Rock & Roll Queen seems to have created a surge in popularity which can only make The Subways go up and up but will the release their album ‘Young For Eternity’ do the same?

The tracks that standout for me on this album are firstly ‘I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say’ which has clear and loud vocals and then the drums come in and it becomes a track we think that a band like The Subways could deliver. They give you cool beats that make you want to move. ‘Rock & Roll Queen’ has been released as a single and it is cool sounding and definitely has that catchiness that a hit single needs. It’s not so manic-beat driven and I think that’s what gives it more of a coolness to it. The vocals are again clear but have a quieter attitude. It’s a track that you can sing, shout or scream to. This is definitely the stand out track. ‘Mary’ is more of an upbeat and sunnier kind of track and it feels a bit lighter and a bit poppier. ‘Young For Eternity’ gives you dirty guitars again. It has definite anthemic qualities and it is total punk rock, an anthem for a generation perhaps. It certainly has that head whoopin’ quality to it. The guitars grab you and throw you round the room. ‘Lines Of Light’ is one of the quiet tracks on the album. The male and female vocals blend together and whisper into your head. It is very haunting. It does take on some loudness further into the track with beating drums and guitars coming into it. ‘Oh Yeah’ has pounding drums which ensnare you at the beginning of the track and then that vocal comes in. The catchy chorus also works wonders. ‘No Goodbyes’ is not as loud as the other tracks and seems warmer and brighter. The guitars don’t overpower the listener as in the some of the other tracks. ‘She Sun’ starts off with an acoustic guitar and is quiet and whispery. It’s cool and calm in the midst of the attitude-ness of The Subways. It has floating guitars and the vocals take you somewhere else, somewhere where you can close your eyes and float away.

The main thing that stands out (for me anyway) about The Subways is that their sound is so great. The two vocalist’s voices go so well together whether being all out attitude or whispering magic. Their guitar sound is so cool and it is so easy to listen to. All this together just makes you want to listen to the band. This is a difficult thing for a new (okay well not that new) band to do but they do it well and I see a long road of success for them and the recent engagement of two the band members will just add to the excitement.
